Natural Yoga and Meditation - An Invitation

I invite you to come together for a joyful, playful, and safe yoga practice. No matter what your level of experience, you will find challenge and reward in our time together. We will experience a yoga practice of compassion, that of having compassion for your entire state of being, bringing awareness and gentleness into your mind, body, and spirit, allowing you a more peaceful life existence. You are safely guided to only engage the practices to your individual need, as it is in that moment. We are thus learning the practice of being present or living in the moment.

Whatever your intention, whether it’s flexibility, strength, spirituality, relaxation, stress release, meditation, balance, or beyond, please join me and share in a playful, safe, and joyful journey of exploration!

Yoga Style Descriptions

I offer a yoga practice from my many teachers. The greatest influence to my core instruction is twofold: PremShakti of PremYoga, a yoga of compassion, compassion of the self, a practice rooted in the Kripalu Yoga tradition, a yoga of consciousness; and the teachings of Mark Whitwell, Heart of Yoga, the Healing Power of Intimate Connection. ~ Restorative ~ Harmony Relax & Renew ~ Pre-natal ~ Classic ~ Gentle ~ Meditation ~

Restorative: A practice of yoga using pillows, blankets, and other props to securely and safely support you in the postures. The supported posture seeks to create a comfortable physical position to better allow you to focus on releasing the holdings of the body. This is great for any time you are very stressed, tired, or when you don't feel like you have enough energy to move as in a regular yoga class. The session also provides an opportunity for those seeking to deepen their practice to experience greater levels of awareness. A typical session involves just a few select postures, presenting time for you to actively engage in the process of relaxation, meditation, and release.

Harmony Relax & Renew: Attune to your Self through the Sound Vibration of pure Quartz Crystal Singing Bowls. The session consists of restorative yoga postures, breath awareness, visualization, and massage combined with the pure resonant sound vibration meditation and healing properties of the Quartz Crystal Singing Bowls.

Pre-natal: A practice of yoga designed specifically for the mom-to-be. Postures are selected based on the trimester, physical condition, and intention of the pre-natal mother. Postures are modified to allow for the baby's growth and to protect the mother from overstretching. We build body-mind awareness utilizing the breath, postures, toning, and meditation. Within this awareness, we build strength, find balance, and open ourselves to ourselves and the process of creation. Pre-natal yoga is designed to nurture us during the many changes of our pregnancy, as well as prepare ourselves for childbirth and beyond.

Classic: We utilize pranayama (breath), asana (postures), and meditation techniques on a journey of self discovery and self acceptance. You are safely guided to engage the practice to your level and ability. There are no ideals to achieve. We seek to know and accept ourselves as we are, in the moment. Practicing non-attachment and non-judgmental awareness allows us to connect with our true self, releasing our stress and suffering. A typical session starts with a centering, a time to focus in and connect with our breath. We then move through postures, warming and stretching our bodies. As appropriate, we engage more challenging postures, enhancing our strength, flexibility, and balance. We conclude the session with a guided relaxation.

Gentle: A yoga practice similar to the Classic, only differing in the manner that we select postures that do not aggravate but release any conditions or perceived limitations.

Meditation: A guided practice in awareness. The most common method shared is the Breath Meditation. This is a simple to learn, easy to practice method of tuning out and tuning in. Guided imagery is also shared, as a progressive whole body relaxation or a whimsical journey of exploration and expansion. Fun, safe, empowering, relaxing, refreshing.
